I hate the dentist! Not the trained professionals personally per se, more like I hate their tools. Those high-pitched squealing drills they use for everything! “Oh miss your teeth look lovely but we need to clean them. Let me get out my perfectly harmless but horrifically sounding tooth cleaner DRILL.” Ugg! It is the noise that I can’t stand. The horrible noise that sends chills down my spine and into my fingers that are usually gripping the arms of the dental chair so hard that I am sure CSI wouldn’t even need the grey dust to get my prints of them.
Today was my second visit to the dentist in probably 10 years and my second visit in England. Thank goodness todays experience was much better then the last time. The last time I went was so awful I thought I was being punk’d. The dentist chair, more like torture chair, was the grossest color brown ever dyed onto hard vinyl and was held together by brown packaging tape. Instead of cleaning my teeth with the swirly rubber teeth cleaning thingy that I had mentally prepared myself for he proceeded to drill out the plaque nestled between my pearly whites. You heard me right DRILLED! Why? Why did he do this to me? I protested with the some grimaces of pain and all he said was it would be over soon. I even said in a mumbled whisper "it hurts" but still no relief. Obviously this man likes to cause pain to poor little girls who I am sure in his mind deserve it because no matter how politely I protested he would not stop. I left feeling totally traumatised and swore I would never go to the dentist again in England.
I did call Ian and tell him about my appalling experience and though he did not offer me much sympathy he did say I should try his dentist and promised it would be better. And it was. This one did keep telling me I had a lot of fillings though. “Yea thanks I already know that, don’t need you to remind me, my husband who has zero fillings already has that job but thanks anyway.”
I now have an appointment on my birthday to get my teeth cleaned, with out a drill, and get a filling redone, with a drill. I checked. He won’t do it without one. Maybe I could get put under. Help me!!

english dentist take lessons in how to give pain not how to prevent pain. Hope you got a good one this time.
