Conkers......a little bit bonkers.

Last Saturday was Ian's Mom's (Rosemarie) Birthday. Julian and Marie hosted it at their new house in Chalfont St. Jiles. The soirée was attended by Ga and Jack (Ian's grandparents), Me and Ian, and obviously Julian, Marie, Rebecca, and Ella. The sun shined brightly and like a cold-blooded reptile I soaked up the rays. Rebecca and I were introduced to an ancient school boy game called Conkers. To play this game you have to find a conker tree, knock down the conkers, put a small hole through them, and then thread them on some thick string. Then you hit the conkers together till one breaks and if yours doesn't break you are the winner. (If you want to know more click on the link above.) A very fun game, but watch out for your fingers they can get hit accidentally and it really hurts. Ouch!
The best part of the game was when Ian, who had won three games, played Julian and knocked Julians what was going to be a winning conker out of his hand and in good old fashioned school boy fun yelled "stampseeees" and stamped Julians poor helpless conker to bits. At this Julian's faced dropped and he looked like a child who had just found out that Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy were not real all at the same time. He was devastated at the loss. Hilarious! We had a great day that ended with a nice meal at home and a crap movie. The Wedding Date. I know, I know why would I waste my time but I thought it might be light hearted and charming well it just plain sucked. Two thumbs down.

Saturday

This morning I got up at 8:15am. That is way early for me so I am pretty proud of myself. I even went to go work out but the stupid gym was closed. I couldn't believe it. So I did my Pilates DVD in my living room. That is a hard work out. It is Ian's Mom's birthday today. At lunch time we are going over to Marie's house for a little party. Julian and Marie have just bought a new house, one of the ugliest houses I have ever seen, that they are renovating. Julian had the whole downstairs changed in 6 days. Who knows how long it will take to get the rest done, but they big plans and I think once it is all done it will be really nice. Back to the party we have that today and then tonight I am not sure what we are going to do. Got any ideas? My Mom is going to see Movin' Out, the show that Todd is in. How exciting I wish I could see that show. He is staying with Heather in Tulsa right now and they are having so much fun. I am seriously gutted that I am not there with them. Excuse the English lingo but it is the only word I could think of to say how I felt. I went shopping in London yesterday to cheer myself up. London is crazy. There are so many people everywhere and none of them want to look at anyone else. It is almost as if they act like they are the only person on the street. Weird. Except guys at pubs or coffee shops they all seem to want to talk. Interesting. Well I guess that is all for now. My brain isn't really in this so it is not that creative. Apologies. The next one will be better I promise. Peace Out.

PS for those of you who wear and like make-up check out the new primer from M.A.C. it is amazing.

In the studio

Yesterday I spent the whole day in the studio with Oyvind working on a track for my EP. The song is called "Be Love" and it is a cover. I wish I wrote it because it is an awesome song. I really miss being in the studio so yesterday was great for me. Memories from Raze days came flooding into my head. Those were good times, but I know there are great times ahead in terms of music for me. The future, as I imagine in my fantasy I suppose, looks bright. Finally I have focus and vision. It has been a long time since I could imagine having a real career in music.
Oyvind is so cool to work with he has such a peaceful demeanor. He recently got married to Liz so we haven't been working for a bit while they settle into marriage. They are one of the cutest and coolest couples I know. Glad to be moving ahead and thinking ahead.

Where have I been?

I am not sure what I have been up to lately. Ian has been in Australia so I have been trying to keep busy so I don't miss him too much. BUt it is not really woring becasuse I do miss him. Boo. On Sunday he will be home. Yippee!! I spent a day in Tunbridge Wells, if you haven't been there go. It is like the Pleasantville of England. Beautiful and full of pretty rich people. I scored a deal on some sale clothes, very exciting. Oh...and I had the best chocalate coffee drink ever known to man, Bicerin. It is from a cool little restaraunt called Carluccio's and it is served in three of the cutest little milk jugs you have ever seen, so tiny, so cute. One is filled with Florintine drinking chocolate (melted dark chocolate), the next double cream ( I am salivating just thinking about it), and the last espresso. You then pour those into a mug in whatever ratio you are feeling and ouila! The best chocolate coffee drink ever known to man. I am thinking about trying it at home. The downer is the calories must be out if this world, but try not to think about it and enjoy. Yummy for my tummy. Really that has been the highlight of my week.

Tom's Birthday Weekend!

I was not aware that Tom's birthday is like a national holiday until this fun filled weekend. On Friday we took a boat ride on the Thames in a little motor boat captained mainly by Stuart. Some of the others gave it a go but Stuart was clearly the nest driver. They asked me to drive a couple of times, unaware of my nearly immaculate driving record (uuhkumm), but graciously I declined not wanting to put the boys to shame with my amazing driving skills. Of course the fresh air went to Tom's head and we were subjected to his nakedness once again. Seriously, the guy cannot keep his willy in his pants. I am starting to think something might be wrong with him. Or he just needs a lot of attention.

After the boat ride we took an exciting trip to Costco. Just like Sam's and I loved it. I pretended I was in America soaking up the huge fluorescent lights and spreading out in the massive aisles of crap that you don't really need, but have to buy because it is so cheap. I bought a giant piece of pizza for £1.25. Unbelievable.

As the night descended we made our way to Stu and Lou's ( I love that their names rhyme) house for drinks and fun. And a little dancing.

Saturday night was the actual party I guess Friday night acted as the pre-party. Starting at about 7:30pm but really starting around 9:30pm. Lots of fun and again some dancing. I made some cookie cakes for the birthday boy and girl which were a big hit. Very American apparently. That was about it, but it seemed that it was a party that lasted all weekend.

Thank God it is over and we can get back to our normal life.

Happy Birthday Tom and Lou!

While My Guitar Gently Weeps...

I have finally gotten Ian's guitar restrung and bought some song books so I can continue my "learning how to play guitar" journey. That journey was put on hold when I made the move across the sea only until I made the time to restart it on this side of the Atlantic. Now is the time and the Flat is the place, well until we move to Beaconsfield anyway. The pain on the tips of my fingers act as a reminder of the time that has past since I crucified Robbie Williams "Angels" in a meager attempt to grow as artist.

Heather is the coolest!

My best friend Heather is so clued in to the new music scene it's like she can see into the future of Casey Kasum's Top 40. She keeps her feet on the ground while she reaches for the stars. And like a best friend should she blesses me with her new discoveries like an excited child shares finding a shiny new penny. So this is her latest. I promise you will love it. OK GO.

Church Picnic

This past sunny Sunday we actually drug ourselves out of bed and made it to church. To my total surprise Ian even fit in an early morning run before we left. For some reason church puts me in a bad mood but I managed to snap out of it when we started praying for the people in New Orleans. After church we had a church picnic in Regent's Park. Beautiful. Livin' the dream. Ian and I were invited to play the longest game of croquet ever. The lovely young lady in the photo was my extremely competitive teammate Olivia. Her and brother Joshua come from a long line of croquet players so they took the game very seriously. Beautiful weather, beautiful day, I couldn't have asked for more. Well maybe if all my family and friends from home were there. I could have asked for that.

Lost in New Orleans

Lost seems to be the new show to watch in England. They are a season behind America which I find extremely annoying so the other night after watching two episodes in a row I really needed to know what was going to happen. So I got online (the internet is my favorite), went to the website, and proceeded to read the written versions of every episode. It took awhile but now I am all caught up to America and ready for the season premier at the end of Sept. The best part of this is that Tom is totally into the show and he doesn't want to know what is happening. Finally I have something to taunt him with. Every time he says something out of order to me I tell him something important that happens to the castaways. I love it! He hates it! Yes!
Let me know if you are into the show so we can talk about it.

Last night on the news they showed footage of some folks basically lost in New Orleans, living on their roofs with no water or food. Surprisingly hurricanes seem to leave behind a good supply of cigarettes. Every cajun tongued interviewee was smoking. Seriously though why is there no help there? The reporter informed us that the Red Cross was only set up for about 3 hours and then left. The locals have no supplies and no way out since their cars have been swept away and even if they had them they can't get gas. I want to know if this is true and if so how could Louisiana and the US be so ill prepared for such a natural disaster. Apparently the US government was warned that this was possible. If anyone has any insight please share it with me.

Tom's Advice for the Day / evening!!!

I have done some serious thinking the past few days and I have some good quality advice (mainly for HH)

"Be Trimmed and always be prepared for any action!!!"

You never know what the evening may have in store, but remember beauty is only as far away as the light switch!!!!

Bank Holiday Weekend House

This is the house that I spent the Bank Holiday in. Huge huh? Even for American standards. I stayed in a room that had a dressing room that connected to it's own huge bathroom. Awesome! I almost spent the weekend by myself because Ian was out of town and I had planned on hanging out with Sarah who never called or answered her phone. Still not sure what happened there. Anyway I called Tom to see what he was up to and got his voicemail. A few minutes later he called back and invited me over. Thanks goodness, I was really beginning to feel sorry for myself. I had a fab time and Tom kept us entertained with his naked antics mainly jumping off the diving board with his bum out. Good times.

I know so many people that are having babies sometimes I feel like I am behind in the family department. My sister is wanting to start on her second child how can that be? My maternal instinct has not kicked in yet and I am wondering if it ever will. The only urge I have is to adopt a toddler, but the logistics of the process overwhelm me. One step at a time for us. We need to figure out where we are going to live and get a larger house in England first. If you are a praying person please say some for us and our future. Thanks.

Ok..imagine how dodgy this looks, then imagine how dodgy it looks at a christian festival. That is Hutch for ya. He had a whole gang of folks in his tent trying to convince them to smoke this thing. Some of them did and liked it...others however, would not succumb to the peer pressure. For the record it is all legal or at least that is what Hutch keeps telling us.

Good Afternoon

I just bought the new Goldfrapp album and it is rocking my world. They have such a unique sound and her voice is so sexy. I am a little scared of their website but it is creative. I got a fan email today, that is always encouraging. I really need to get this album finished. I got the title the other day when I was driving. Are you ready? Fairytale Disco. What do you think? I am hoping to get the music done this year and then do some shows next year.

I also got the new Delirious album and have listened to it today. It is funny because you can tell Martin has braces when he is singing. ANyway the music is pretty cool. Some of the songs are great and the others will have to grow on me. Stu G has a lot of vocals on this one and I love it! I sent him a text today to tell him he is a rock star and he said "Yeah baby! Fancypants." (That is the nickname he has and mine is Blondie from the movie School of Rock.) I am looking forward to the Family Tour next summer. Being on tour is my favorite. Hopefully Ian and I will make it through this one the last one almost ended us. Well not ended us but was a big challenge. We shall see what happens. Should be fun regardless.

Ian is a little jealous of the attention she is getting and is more convinced than ever that I am crazy. He keeps talking about shipping me off to the looney bin. My next purchase will be a Barbie from Hamley's a big toy store in London on Regent Street that apparently has the most amazing selection of Barbie's. Ian said he would get a Ken, but that Ken was gay. Not sure why he thinks that, but oh well. I love my new Little Pony. Yay!

You like me, you really like me. Thanks for all the comments especially the one from Darth Vadar. I feel truly loved. Today was a sunny, warm day and I was able to wear a short skirt without being cold which makes me happy. I also wore flip flops, my favorite. We viewed two houses in Beaconsfield and one we liked the inside, but the front is ugly. I mean really ugly, so I don't think we will be buying it. The other was a good value for the house, but we would have to gut it start again as I hated everything they had done. And so did Ian. So no luck today, but tomorrow we are viewing a lovely cottage called Bentinck cottage it looks pretty cool. I will let ya know how it goes.

So the photo for this blog is me and Craig and Emma's little girl Evie. We had a great time getting "ice cream" at Soul Survivor. We played Pooh sticks and for those of you have not played this game go out play it right now. I think I enjoyed it more than Evie did. Well maybe equally enjoyed it.
So wish us luck for tomorrow and keep on commenting I love it, I really love it!

Isolation

Yesterday I spent almost the whole day in my apartment. Ian thinks I am going to go crazy if I don't get out more. The only problem is I don't really like going out by myself and I don't have any friends that live close by that I can call up and hang with. Poor me. So I have been going to my friends sites like Heather and Elvis and they always have comments on their blogs. Even Heather who doesn't blog that much has comments. Heather I wish you would blog more you're really good at it and I want to know every little thing that happens to you. At the risk of sounding like i need some attention, I need some attention. Please if you have the time comment on my blogs. Some feed back would be really nice.

What happened to Steve Guttenburg? I saw him in a movie yesterday and realized I haven't seen him in long time. I checked him out online (my new hobby is looking up actors from the 80's) and he has been working, just nothing big. Anyway just thought you might want to know. Gotta go. Bye.

Cathy's Birthday Barbeque

Cathy's Birthday Barbeque
Originally uploaded by Mizzie.
On Wednesday Ian and I went down to Soul Survivor Festival to see some of our friends and so Ian could work all day long. I was unaware of the working all day long factor. It was explained to me as "a couple of hours", but knowing Ian's love for his job I should have known. I have to give him some props because he did manage to hang late into the evening with the Delirious gang including a "hyper" Stu G. Stu entertained us with some hilarious and stories from his youth and managed to get us all to feel sorry for him for an unfortunate mole and hair he had on his chin coupled with the fact that he had ginger hair, freckles, and was kinda chubby. As for the Barbeque earlier that day Ian missed most of it, Hutch cooked, well I should say charred some meat and Cathy was honored and overwhelmed at the turn out. Anytime Delirious attend a function they bring along with them 5 wives and 16 kids. That's a lot of kids. So add to that gang a gang from St. Mary's and Cathy had a huge Birthday gathering. It was a fantastic day. The sun blessed us with its presence all day long. Yay! I love the sun. Happy Birthday Cathy.

Back in the UK

I am sooooo tired. My trip home was alright, I mostly slept. I have come down with a throat infection that I have been trying to kick for about three months. This is it's third uninvited visit. I have some antibiotics that I was suppose to take last time and didn't, so this time I am going to finish the lot. Good bye throat infection. Ian and I are both sick and suffering from jet lag. We have been sitting around feeling sorry for ourselves wondering who is going to come and take care of us. He has actually been to work, but when he gets home he is so tired. We managed to take a trip to the grocery store and feed ourselves then straight to bed. He is off today to Bath and West Show Ground for a delirious show at Soul Survivor Festival. Are you impressed with my linking skills? The weather is actually nice. I can't believe it. I am so ready to move out of Chesham, so ready. For some reason my cute little High Street is turning into skidrow. It sucks. It is like East Enders with more drama not that that is even possible. Anyway I am missing everyone in Tulsa already, boo hoo. Well that is all for now I am gonna look for a new house or flat or something that is not in Chesham. It is too bad because I love our flat here. Oh well.

Lindsay and Daniel! Yay!!! We miss them so much. We met up with them in OKC even though they now live in Austin. they are getting ready to have a baby. Very exciting I got to feel him movin' around in there. Babies are cool. LIndsay looks gorgeous preggers and Daniel is the perfect gentleman with her. They are desperately trying to get us to move to Austin and I have to say we are thinking about it. Maybe in a couple years.

Ian is going to be such a good Dad?

I miss the days of being hung over a fountain. MAx was actually enjoying this before anyone gets worried. Ian was hopped up on caffeine which gave him super human strength. Fun times in Tulsa. Ian is a good Uncle.

Me and Melanie shakin up at the reunion.

Rock and roll. The Logan, Hall, Jenkins gang was the hit of the dance party. We over took the dance floor. The flyer and the brilliance! Melanie and Grant were the first to hit the floor followed shortly after by the Hilton sisters ( a new nickname for heather and myself). It was beautiful. Ian had decided to stay home so he missed all the fun. After the party we went to a hotel room party reminiscent of a high school gathering. Things don't change I guess. Most of the attendees were chain smokers which surprised me and Melanie was stalked by a guy who she decided was a Sociopath and he declared that i was a Hater. What? Me a hater?

Me and Heather at her high school reunion in tulsa.

Heather and me loving each other at the reunion. I didn't go to my reunion so I decided I would go as heather's date and drag Ian along to an American function that he would most likely find uncomfortable. he did, but Grant took care of him and they held up the bar most of the night. Heather was the star of the show. She was on fire! She started a rumor by accident that she was a lesbian that was interesting. In the end we all had a great time, the highlight was when are friend Keith showed up and got a high pitched squeel greeting form me and Heather. AAAAHHHH! We love Keith.

Grant is sitting beside me telling me how cool it is to blog at a party. I will write all later, so check back. We are loving it. Some rumor has started that Heather is a lesbian, not that anythings wrong with that, and her dancing with me all night didn't help. So signing off for now. The night is just beginning.

So we ahve been swimming two days in a row in what feels like 100 degrees heat. Beautiful sunshine. My tan is getting established I am taking slow and wearing loads of sunscreen no burning then tanning for me. I have seen the affects of the sun too many times to be that careless. Yikes! Besides it hurts. Ouch! So my family are well. My sister and her Husband decided to go out of town the first weekend I am here, but I forgive them because i get max all too myself. Yippeeee.

The England bombings happened the day I flew. So far everyone I know is OK, but I am so pissed off that this has happened. The city, from what I have heard, is back to normal so I guess that is a good thing.

Will post again soon. Please keep checking back.

House Drama

Went to view another house today in the same area as the one we didn't get. It was cool, but not as cool as out dream home. We have a chance of getting that house if we offer more money. Money, money, money. I won't bore you with that now. I will give you some entertainment. Check this out. Johnny sent this to me and I love it. When I need to laugh I watch it. Actually I think the guy is a good dancer. Maybe I should steal some of his moves. I watched Garden State last night and fell in love with it. the soundtrack is amazing. Heather gave me the soundtrack and said I should watch the movie it just took me a little while to get to it. Not much else going on here. Ian is in America and Canada till Sunday. Oh I saw Star Wars on firday. Wow. Britt, have you seen it yet? I loved it. Peace be with you. Miz

We think we found her house, well not really, but we have it narrowed down to a street. Next time we will check with Hutch before we go out because his brother in law was almost her butler. I am hoping to see her and the kids riding their bikes. This makes me sound like I am stalking her, but I am not it just kind of fun for a girl from Tulsa to think she hangs out near Madonna's house and might see her riding around. Oh PS Ian and I put in an offer on a house today. We will know tomorrow if we get it or not.

I am confused.

I am sorry I have not written in awhile. Ian and I went to Brighton with some friends of ours Martin and Nicola last weekend. Nice little jaunt to the seaside. We had a lovely time shopping and eating and dancing. Then on Monday we went to Arundel and walked up the castle, we didn't go in because the Londoners were not interested in looking in a castle. I guess if you have grown up with it your whole life it feels like school. I wasn't too disappointed since I have seen the Castle before. Ian is away in Germany or Holland I am not sure.
Meanwhile I am trying to pick out a digital camera that one of my friends is going to pick up for me in America. I am having a crazy time deciding on which one to get. Seriously I need to just pick one and be happy. i can't find "The One" I thought i had but then I read the reviews and they are not so good. I will keep searching, but I have to decide by tomorrow. Yikes! I hope I make the right decision. Good night.

Heather in London

I have been trying to figure out how to put up photo's of Heather's trip to see me in London and then I went to her site today and they are all there. So go to Heather's cutie pututie site and check 'em out.

I'm tired....so tired.

Since I have been back in England I am sooooooooo tired. Not sure why. I guess it could be from jet lag, but I have been sleeping a decent amount. Yesterday was the worst. Ian and I spent 6 hours driving around looking at houses and I felt like I had an elephant sitting on my shoulders. My eyelids must have weighed 100 pounds each. Today is better. I managed to get up at before 11:00am and I feel pretty good so far. We found this house in Amersham that is wicked. It is currently on the market to rent, but we are going to inquire about buying it. It was built in the 1930's by a famous architect named Amyas Connell. The house is on http://www.chancellors.co.uk/psearch/fs_psearch.asp?I_mode=R scroll down to Highover Park, Amersham. Hopefully you will be able to see it in all it's coolness. I better get back to work. I still haven't unpacked. Yikes! Our flat is too small to have suitcases in it. I think I have been stalling because my closet is over full and so are my drawers. Guess I will just have to take over more of Ian's closet. Ha! Peace.

Welcome home or welcome back?

We are back in England after the easiest flight ever. Ian slept most of the way and I read and watched movies, very exciting. Our amazing friends Martin and Nicola had been food shopping for us so we would could eat when we got in since it was so late and this is not the land of 24hr anything. I am so tired today, but I have managed to stay up all day. Yeah me! This afternoon I hopped on a train, using my new Oyster card and headed to the studio. I started recording vocals for a new song I am working on. I am now going to go home, eat, and finish watching Bourne Identity. I hope my spelling is better on this blog, I have had some critisism on my attention to mispelled words. Justin I hope you approve.
I am fully missing America and was ready to go back the second I arrived in this dull, grey, cold country. As soon as I hit London I felt better. Somehow the grey skies are more bearable once I am surrounded by the buzz of the city. To add insult to injury though, the two reasons I came back so soon have been cancelled. The Mel C concert and my business class teacher just didn't show so the whole class might be cancelled. I will keep you updated as soon as I know.

I will finish this blog with a big shout out to my best friend Heather. Thank you for my best visit to Tulsa yet. Thanks for organizing the party. And to my family..... I miss you all soooooo much it was awesome to see you.

When I was in Tulsa we went to Stillwater to visit my brother at OSU. This is a photo taken at a pond on campus that a scary, killer swan inhabits. The reason I look so uncomfortable in the photo is I was sure at any moment the killer swan was going to jump out of the water and clamp it's beak full of tiny little teeth onto my leg. Ouch! The swan had mercy on me and my leg was fine. Too bad it ruined the picture. Max and I had fun climbing tree's by the pond.

Family at El Tequila

On Sunday I hung out with my Dad and Sherrie and then stayed at their house that night. It was teh first time I had stayed there, it was pretty exciting. My Dad and I looked online at digital camera's since Ian has said we can buy one while we are in America. I ahve found one and will put up a link next time I post. Max, Melanie, and Grant had lunch with us at El Tequila, my parents favorite place to eat. They eat there sometimes three times a week. The owners have said they are their best customers. We got the royal treatment of specail sample dips and complimetary, yummy soup. The food is fantastic and the best part is my Dad tries to speak in spanish to Haveir the owners brother. It is so cute to watch them try and understand each other. You might have to see it to appreciate it but I thought it was worth writing about.

You know the song "I like to move it, move it!"? Well Max loves it and sings it "I like to mole it, mole it. So funny. So that is what we are doing here. Dancing around singing I like to mole it, mole it. Max loves to dance as much if not more than I do. He is pretty good too.

I am at my Mom's house in Owasso, just north of Tulsa. Max and I hung out this morning and played Hungry Hungry Hippo, Snakes and Ladders, and Connect Four. Max loves to have his photo taken, just like his Auntie Missy, so we played with my isight camera. Hope you like the outcome of our photo shoot.

I can't remember what day this was taken, but I think it might have been after church on night and a big group of us were at Hutch's or it was on a night when we all went over and my fantastic Ian cooked banger's and mash for everyone. Yummy! Hutch got out his very technical digital camera that he scored when we were on the road with Delirious last summer and started taking photo's of everyone. Unfortunaly the best shot, of Paul Burton's butt in the middle of this ring, has been deleted never to be seen again.

My 15 minutes

I am mentioned on the Delirious website from the photo shoot last Monday. If you would like to check it out mainly for my Mom and Dad it is at www.delirious.co.uk. Check it!

Last night Ian and I went to see Hanson in London. They rocked of course. It was an interesting venue, very small but kinda cool. They played it becasue they had sold out the larger venue a few nights before. Fern Levin from Top of the Pops was there and she crowd surfed to the stage on her stomach. Ian and I were confused at her choice of positions, surely on your back is safer, but it was funny to watch. I am almost postivie she got groped. SHe must have liked it because she did the same thing on the way back.
It was so cool to see the guys again. I was going to go to the Funky Buddha with Isaac (the party animal) and some label poeple, but Ian just got back from Auz so he was not up for it. Oh well another time.
